I ran to ensure local government focuses on the issues that matter most to residents: public safety, safe roads, clean water, and a robust parks department. During my first term I was able to ensure Fridley residents received those services and I am running for re-election to ensure those issues are prioritized.
Supporting our police and fire staff is key to building a strong community that invites new residents and businesses into the city. Providing our public safety department with the tools and resources they need to keep Fridley safe was a priority in my first term and will continue to be a priority in my second term.
The number one issue I hear from residents relates to traffic speeds on local roads. During my first term, I supported traffic calming measures that had a measurable impact on the speeds of traffic and will continue to explore options on how to keep pedestrians, bikers, and drivers safe while using our roads.
Parks matter to Fridley residents, evidenced by our significant investment in revitalizing our local park system. I have supported these efforts during my time on council, ensuring resident voices were heard when deciding what amenities to provide and in my next term I want to focus on ensuring that our parks are well maintained and provide programming that is accessible for all residents.
Keeping local taxes low and providing resources for homeowners and renters encourages affordability for residents. Fridley has seen some of the lowest levy increases in Anoka County during my first term, and I have supported housing programs such as the front door grant for residents to obtain affordable funding for to care for their homes. I intend to continue supporting these values during my second term.
